Easy Ways To Meet Your Neighbors

Whether you’ve lived in a city your entire life or are coming from several states away, moving to a new community can sometimes feel overwhelming, even lonely. This is especially true for UCF students who come from all around the world to call Orlando home. However, one of the best ways to make new friends is by tapping the valuable resource that is your new neighbors. If they’re an established resident, they can help you find your way around, or if they’re also new, you’ll both have support as you navigate your new surroundings. While that all sounds well and good, even making friends with the people you share a community with can be a bit intimidating.

To help you break the ice a little easier, The Station Alafaya has come up with some easy ways to mingle with your new neighbors. And, it couldn’t be easier with all of the community amenities that our apartments near UCF have to offer. Contact us today for more information or to schedule a tour!

Strike Up A Conversation

Striking up a conversation with your neighbors can seem daunting. Thankfully, you don’t have to go knocking on your neighbors’ doors to meet them. Elevators, stairways, parking lots, and other shared spaces are great spots for a friendly conversation with your neighbors. Keep things short and sweet by introducing yourself and asking how their day is going. Next time you bump into them in the hallway, you’ll already feel more comfortable talking to them again. If stopping someone in the hall isn’t your thing, our Internet café and resident lounge are great spaces to meet and chat with other residents.

Take A Walk Around

By making yourself a regular sight, you can increase the likelihood that a neighbor will approach you to talk. Going on walks also gives you more opportunities to give a friendly hello to any other active neighbors. If you have a furry pal, you’ll be an even bigger hit and may find it easier to bond with other pet owners out for their daily walks. Familiarizing yourself with your neighbors and the community is also a great way to feel at home faster.

Host A Party

A housewarming party is the perfect time to invite neighbors to drop by and get to know you. When you give an invitation, take a moment to introduce yourself and set the tone for your event. The party can be as big or as small as you want, but make sure to mingle and talk to everyone who comes over. It also never hurts to put out some homemade treats if you’re a cook or a baker. Even if you invite dozens of people and only form one friendship, you’ll have forged a valuable social connection.

Use The Amenities

Hopefully, you’re living in a community that provides you access to social amenities and events, such as our apartments by UCF. If so, don’t be shy! You live in a community, so it only makes sense to be a part of that community. Get active with others at our resort-style pool, fitness facility, sand volleyball court, and golf simulator. Or relax at the outdoor lounge or show off your cooking skills at the grilling area. With plenty of amenities available to our residents, it’s easy to make new friends when you live at The Station Alafaya.
